O GREAT UNCERTAINTY
Once upon a wobbling moon
once upon a sunny day flood of epic proportion
we turned to you, O Great Uncertainty,
seeking confidence that we ourselves greatly lack:
once in a lifetime, the hundred-year event
became an occurrence every five or seven years
and you merely shrugged your metaphorical shoulders,
drew in the vapor of the stratosphere
and exhaled in a soft wind
that became monsoon, typhoon, hurricane.
