HAPPY BIRTHDAY J.P. PATCHES

Happy birthday to one of my heroes, Julius Pierpont Patches, Mayor of the City Dump. He brought us cartoons and slapstick humor every morning before we headed off to school. He goofed around with Gertrude and Ketchikan the Animal Man and Esmerelda. He got hit in the face with a cream pie by Miss Smith as often as he hit her in the face. He talked to Tikey Turkey. He thwarted the evil machinations of Boris S. Wort. He looked into his ICU2-TV set and wished us happy birthday. And he did all of it with wit and dignity.

I was and still am proud to be a Patches Pal.

Happy birthday J.P.!

If you grew up in the Puget Sound region between 1958 and 1981, then you know what I am talking about. If not, then you have some homework to do.

You can purchase a J.P. Patches action figure (pictured above) from Archie McPhee, another local wonder.
