THE SARANAC SIX - DEFENDANT #4

Saranac Adirondack Lager, a Vienna by Matt Brewing Company

12 ounce bottle. One of six beers in the Saranac Sampler Adirondack Trail Mix six-pack. Drunk in Arlington, Virginia.

LABEL STATEMENT:
"Our classic German lager has a perfect balance of caramel malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Look for a rich amber color and medium body."

TWT'S STATEMENT:
Saranac Adirondack Lager poured yellow-orange with a white head that quickly dissipated. It had lively carbonation of small squiggly bubbles. There was absolutely no lacing. The main aromas consisted of graham cracker, the syrup of canned pears, and buttery yeast. The flavor lagged behind, a bastardized version of the aroma's promise. There was even a hint of varnish lurking in the background.

VERDICT:
Would I drink it again? Probably not. If it was the only thing available or if it was the only non-macrobrew present, then I would drink it. Otherwise, I would only use it to clean paintbrushes.
