on THE TAPHANDLE

Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale, a Premium Bitter/ESB by Black Sheep Brewery

16.9 ounce bottle.

Well, the joke is indeed on me. I assumed that this would be a great ale, but it is actually rather bland. I am sure the members of Monty Python's Flying Circus are laughing all the way to the bank.

The appearance is average. The body is honey colored. The frothy head is enormous (actually too enormous) and white, but it dissipates quickly.

The nose is the best part of the ale. There is a light aroma of hay, as well as various fruits—fruity hops, apple, pear, and raspberry.

The flavor doesn't quite match the aroma. There is a taste of grass and a taste of malts, but those are both faint. Otherwise, there is not much flavor.

Ni!
